Match and Pitch Condition

Weather is expected to be clear during the course of the match.

Pitch Condition: In the last match played here, the pitch was batting friendly and GL chased down a target of 172 easily winning by 7 wickets and 12 balls to spare. So the same type of pitch is expected again and with both teams having some world class T20 batsman in their lineup, a high scoring game can be expected.

Team News

Both teams have won only one match each in the tournament and are holding the last two positions in the points table. Although Gujarat Lions have played one game less than their counterpart, they still can’t afford to lose one more match. On a batting friendly wicket and both teams having some of the best big hitters in their ranks, this match is expected to be one hell of a cracker.

Gujarat Lions:

  • Dwayne Bravo had the full training session again yesterday after one in last week and he tweeted this “I’m so looking forward to getting back on the park again feels good to be a part of full training again “. Going by this tweet, one can assume he may play in the today’s clash against RCB.

  • If DJ Bravo is fit, either Jason Roy or Andrew Tye would have to make way for DJ Bravo.
  • If DJ Bravo is not fit, there still would be a toss up between Dwayne Smith, Aaron Finch and Jason Roy for the two foreign player’s slot.

Royal Challengers Bangalore:

  • RCB would also be worried for their 4th foreign player option after both Shane Watson and Chris Gayle have failed continuously. They might look to give Travis Head one more try as they can’t afford another loss.
  • Mandeep Singh also hasn’t been in form lately but RCB camp would want to give him another chance as they don’t have many options.
  • Also, there is a slight chance that they might bring in Chris Gayle ahead of Shane Watson and Travis Head because of the flat pitches in Rajkot and ordinary bowling lineup of Gujarat Lions.
  • Also, there is a chance Tymal Mills may come back in place of Adam Milne or Samuel Badree as he missed the last match as he was sick.
