Delhi Daredevils finished sixth in the last edition of the IPL.They started the tournament well by winning five of the first seven matches but lost the momentum in the 2nd half and managed to win only two matches out of last seven matches. In this year’s IPL, they have a few concerns over the fitness and participation of the players.
Quinton De Kock: The dashing opener has been ruled out of the tournament due to a finger injury.
JP Duminy: The middle order batsman has pulled out of this year’s IPL citing personal reasons.
Angelo Mathews: The Sri Lankan all-rounder is also doubtful for first few matches of the IPL after sustaining a hamstring injury.
Shreyas Iyer: He is most likely to miss first two matches of the IPL as he is suffering from chickenpox.
Apart from the injuries, Sam Billings will have to leave for national duties on 1st of May, Chris Morris and Kagiso Rabada could miss the playoffs (only if Delhi qualifies) if they are called for national duties against England starting from 14th of May, and Corey Anderson, if called for the national duty starting from 14th of May but that’s very unlikely.
So, overall Delhi Daredevils have a lot of concerns before the start of their first match and they still haven’t named a single replacement for the players who are missing out.
