After squaring the test and ODI series on 1-1, it has all come down to two matches t20 series to decide the winner of the tour. The hosts Sri Lanka are favorites to win as they recently defeated South Africa and Australia in bilateral t20 series in their respective homes. Bangladesh is also high on confidence as they recently defeated their opponent in a test match for the first time.
The pitch of the R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo is usually on slower side and spinners will get aid from the pitch. There is a high chance of rain just before the match so there’s chance of the game to be washed out.
The team winning the toss would want to bat first if there is rain before the match. In the case of no rain, it could go opposite.160 would be good first innings score.
The most probable playing XIs are:
Sri Lanka: Dilshan Munaweera, Upul Tharanga(c), Kusal Perera, Milinda Siriwardana, Asela Gunaratne, Chamara Kapugedera, Thisara Perera, Seekkuge Prasanna, Nuwan Kulasekara, Lasith Malinga, Lakshan Sandakan.
(In the batting order)
Dilshan Munaweera as an opener instead of Kusal Parera because maybe they would want to go with a left-right combination. Milinda Siriwardana and Asela Gunaratne batting position could be swapped. And Thisara Parera could be promoted up according to match condition.
Also, note that Shehan Jayasuriya will join the squad in the 2nd match only so rule him out.
Bangladesh: Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar, Sabbir Rahman, Mushfiqur Rahim(w), Shakib Al Hasan, Mahmudullah, Mosaddek Hossain Saikat, Mehedi Hasan, Mashrafe Mortaza(c), Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed.
Also, Bangladesh could try Mohammad Saifuddin in place of Taskin Ahmed and Sanjamul Islam in place of Mehedi Hasan but that’s very unlikely.
Dilshan Munaweera: A highly Destructive batsman in top order and in home condition could be more destructive.
Asela Gunaratne: We saw the glimpses of his batting in Australia when he single-handedly won two back to back matches for his team.
Thisara Parera: A hard hitter lower down the order and a wicket taker bowler. Could be a real threat if he gets the opportunity.
Lakshan Sandakan: The conditions of the pitch could suit him well.
Shabbir Rehman: Has been the mainstay of this team in recent times.
Mosaddek Hossain Saikat: Could hit well lower down the order and can pick some wickets too.
Shakib Al Hasan: No explanation needed how good he can be in these conditions.
Tamim Iqbal: Their most experienced batsman and a good player against spin bowling.
